Dr. Rizzo received his B.S. in Biology with Honors from the University of Chicago and his M.D. from Northwestern University. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and is specialty board certified. A former collegiate wrestler, he volunteered as an assistant varsity wrestling coach and team physician at Marist High School for 13 years, and is the author of the book “Championship Nutrition and Performance”, was a contributing author for the book “The Arsenal: The Wrestler’s Training Log” by NCAA National Champion Alan Fried, and edited the ARP English to Spanish Manual for Ringside Personnel. He is formerly a clinical instructor of medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Active in professional boxing and mixed martial arts ringside medicine, he is on the board of the Association of Ringside Physicians, is the recipient of the 2011 Dr. Michael Schwartz Award for Dedicated Service to the Association of Ringside Physicians, and also acts as the physician member on the State of Illinois Athletic Commission Board.
